Meet Taylor, Our Apprentice Trainer
Growing up in small town Kansas surrounded by farmland, Taylor has been around animals all her life. She wouldn’t have wanted it any other way. From dogs and cats to cows and horses, she has never known a moment where she didn’t own or care for another creature. She knew early in life that she wanted a career working with animals in any way she could. After setting that goal for herself early on, Taylor put herself on the fast track towards any job she could get to spend time with animals. While working to get her Associates of Science in Psychology, she would also volunteer her time at the local vet clinic or be walking her elderly neighbors' dogs whenever she could. She ended up graduating with honors after taking all 63 credits in one year rather than the typical two.
Cut to a year later, 2018, where military life had now moved her to Maryland - Taylor immediately found a Dog Trainer position and applied as fast as she could. This learning opportunity would be a new challenge she excitedly ran at head on, and gave her all. For 2 years this position led to her holding 10-12 group classes a week, every week, as well as private lessons. Her ability to create a genuine connection with her clients allowed her to produce the highest percentage of return clients, as well as the largest increase in training sales for 2019. Her performance and efforts earned her the Associate of the Quarter award for East Maryland.
Filled with the joy of helping parents and their dogs learn, she holds her past students near and dear to her heart and loved every second of teaching. In 2020, she then moved to Hawaii, and quickly learned there were little dog training opportunities. So she created her own opportunity to keep doing what she loved - by running her own dog walking/dog sitting business and did so full time for 3 years. After 6 years of experience working with dogs everyday, Taylor is now back in Maryland and seeked out a training position as soon as she could. She then found Paws and Possibilities, was excited by their methodology and goals and couldn’t wait to get back into a classroom to help as many students as she could. Taylor considers getting to help dogs as an honor and a privilege. When not in a classroom, Taylor spends time at home with her own dog Hibana and two cats Sassy and Jazz. They are her heart, and mean the world to her. She can’t wait to be able to care for your dogs as she would her own, and help future students grow and strengthen their relationship with their dogs.
